👑ROYALE AVENUE👑 REMIX OUT NOW! 🤍 SKYGGE feat. Kiesza ('Hideaway') - Hello Shadow. Album OUT NOW, stream/download here: 🤍 - CREDITS Composed by SKYGGE, Stromae and The Bionix with the artificial intelligence Flow Machines, inspired by Cape Verdian music Audio stems generated: choirs, rhythm guitar Lyrics: Kiesza Vocals: Kiesza All instruments performed by SKYGGE, Stromae andThe Bionix Mixed by Lionel Capouillez Produced by The Bionix Stromae was curious about Artificial Intelligence and music creation. He came to visit the musician SKYGGE (Benoit Carré) at the SONY CSL studio and was fascinated by the possibilities of the software, which offers new ways of making music. He brought his own influences, scores and audio stems he liked in Cape Verdian style, and we fed it to the machine. He selected his favorite melodies and stems that Flow Machines had generated. With SKYGGE, they put those fragments together and built the song step by step. Stromae sang a vocal line that followed the generated melody, and he improvised on the pre-chorus. The choir in the chorus is also generated. When they had the song ready for final production, they sent it to Kiesza who loved it. They asked her, as well as all the lyricists on the album, to read the tale The Shadow for inspiration. Kiesza envisioned a happy, shiny shadow. The Bionix, a Belgium duet of producers who have worked on many songs by Stromae, produced the track. What is most unusual and characteristic of this song are the first four notes of the verse, which evoke the image of a ball bouncing and rolling. Led by the French musician SKYGGE, “Hello World” is the first pop music album composed with artists with the help of an Artificial Intelligence. Its goal is to show that AI can be used to create new, compelling music, and not mere lab demos. The album is intended to become a landmark album in the history of technology and music creation. This project started as a research project (the Flow-Machines project, conducted at Sony Computer Science Laboratories and University Paris 6, and funded by the ERC) in which scientists were looking for algorithms to capture and reproduce musical “style”. Many scientific and technical results were obtained. Some prototypes were built, with rudimentary interfaces (and lots of bugs). The French musician Benoit Carré joined the research team and explored uncharted territories of his own creativity through AI tools, under the moniker SKYGGE. He shared his experiences with other artists like Stromae, Kiesza, Michael Lovett (NZCA Lines), C Duncan, JATA, Kyrie Kristmanson, The Pirouettes, Castastrophe, Camille Bertault, Mederic Collignon, The Bionix etc. At some point, artists took control, and the scientific project became a music project. This album is the result of this story. All the songs were created by artists using the technology: composers, singers, musicians, producers, sound engineers, in many musical genres (Pop, Electronic, Ambient, Jazz). Melodic twists, harmonic surprises, timbral juxtapositions, with a strong sense of direction and with the uncompromising goal of making really good music, music that can touch and challenge the fan base of the artists. ...... Directed by Jean-François Robert 🤍 Subscribe to SKYGGE MUSIC official channel : 🤍 Website : 🤍 Facebook : 🤍 Instagram : 🤍  - CREDITS Composed by SKYGGE with AI Flow Machines, inspired by French pop of the 80s Audio stems generated: choirs Vocals: Mariama Jalloh, SKYGGE Bass: Jérôme Lavaud Drums: Raphael Chassin at the Studio Melodium Performance synths: Michael Lovett Guitars: SKYGGE Additional synths: Napkey Mixed by Fred Decès Produced by SKYGGE SKYGGE fed Flow Machines with French pop songs from the 80s. The machine generated this simple melody, which sounded excitingly groovy once SKYGGE rendered it with a generated choir. The title comes from a phrase that returns frequently in this choir: Magic Man. It was a nice surprise that the machine came up with a shiny pop song title with such an electro-disco feel. Flow Machines generated guitars from an American folk stem for the demo. Flow Machines also generated other vocals on the verse, and SKYGGE sang over those voices to get a more complex vocal blend. He also asked the singer Mariama to sing with the choir in order to reinforce the groove. The lyrics are a kind of mashup from all the generated syllables. French electro band Napkey worked on the arrangement at the end of the production. Michael Lovett added synthesizer arpeggios. “Hello World” is the first multi-artist music album composed with Artificial Intelligence. However, the novelty and huge potential of the approach triggered the attention of a few talented musicians who joined the team. In 2016, we launched a song in the style of the Beatles, Daddy’s car, as well as a less conventional title (Mr. Shadow) that would become the theme of this album. Then more musicians came. At some point, artists took control, and the scientific project became a music project. This album is the result of this story. All the songs were created by artists using the technology: composers, singers, musicians, producers, sound engineers, in many musical genres (Pop, Electronic, Ambient, Jazz). With this diversity of skills, we had a single objective: use these new technologies to create novel, interesting music, yet music that would please our ears. Most importantly, music that the artists wanted to make! Melodic twists, harmonic surprises, timbral juxtapositions, with a strong sense of direction and with the uncompromising goal of making really good music, music that can touch and challenge the fan base of the artists. ...... This album was curated by Benoit Carré, head of SKYGGE and member of the Flow-Machines team. He worked with many musicians: Stromae, Kiesza, Kyrie Kristmanson, Camille Bertault, the Pirouettes, Médéric Collignon, C. Duncan, NZCA Lines, Jata and many others. This is the story of musicians who met in the lab, and took control of the technology to compose the music they had in their souls and which was unleashed by the AI. You can follow the project here: Facebook Page 🤍 Twitter 🤍 #HelloWorldAlbum Instagram 🤍 YOUTUBE 🤍 WEBSITE 🤍 The research has been conducted by Sony Computer Science Laboratories Paris(Sony CSL Paris) and Pierre et Marie Curie University (UPMC) Directed by French photographer Jean-Francois Robert - whose work has been published on prestigious magazines such as Time Magazine, GQ, Elle, Madame Figaro and La Republica – and inspired by the choirs Flow-Machines generated on this song, the video depicts a strange and poetic character representing the essence of the AI project, a symbiosis between man and machine.

Its purpose is to showcase how AI can be utilized to create new, compelling music and not just serve as a mere laboratory demonstration. This album is intended to become a milestone in the history of technology and music creation. Initially, this project started as a research project called Flow-Machines. François Pachet and his team (Sony CSL) aimed to discover algorithms that could capture and reproduce musical "style." Through this project, many scientific and technical results were achieved, and several prototypes were built, albeit with rudimentary interfaces and numerous bugs. French musician Benoit Carré subsequently joined the research team and shared his experiences with other artists like Stromae, Kiesza, Michael Lovett (NZCA Lines), C Duncan, JATA, Kyrie Kristmanson, The Pirouettes, Castastrophe, Camille Bertault, Mederic Collignon, The Bionix, among others. This album is the product of that journey, where all the songs were created by artists using the technology, such as composers, singers, musicians, producers, and sound engineers, across various musical genres, including Pop, Electronic, Ambient, and Jazz. The result is an album with melodic twists, harmonic surprises, and timbral juxtapositions, all with a strong sense of direction and an unwavering goal of producing genuinely excellent music that can resonate with and challenge the artists' fan base. ...... Sad Song is the second single from the new album Melancholia by SKYGGE aka Benoit Carré, who is at the forefront of musicians exploring the creative potential of artificial intelligence (A.I.). Since 2015, he has been developing A.I. prototypes surrounded by researchers, creating new bridges between innovation and musical creation. With his first album Hello World, released in 2018 (12M streams), he became one of the first artists to produce pop music using this technology in a global way. Inspired by the fairy tale The Shadow by Hans C. Andersen's fairy tale The Shadow, SKYGGE (Danish for "shadow") symbolises the untapped side of creativity revealed by working musically with A.I. tools. Alone with his machines during successive confinements, SKYGGE composes his album by welcoming the proposals of the AI prototypes like so many doors to an imaginary world without limits. The album is conceived as a wandering of the Shadow, alone in the city of Melancholia, which will be found on stage, put into images by the digital artists' collective OYÉ. Still inspired by Andersen's fairy tale, The Shadow, SKYGGE takes the form of a "retro-pop joker" in the track Sad Song, whose sax and string solos were generated by the artist from a hummed vocal melody...

SINGLE OUT EVERYWHERE, STREAM/DOWNLOAD HERE: 🤍 You can also stream/download the other single, 'SKYGGE & Kyrie Kristmanson - In the House of Poetry' : 🤍 SKYGGE means shadow in Danish, writer Hans Christian Andersen 's language, and 'Skygge' is the title of one of his fairy tale, not as known as his famous ‘The Little Mermaid’. SKYGGE is the story of any kind of metamorphoses: from music to data, from neuron networks to musical notes, and from a scientific project to a pop-music album. Benoit Carre , composer, author and producer, shares with François Pachet, director of the Flow Machines project, the same taste for melodic, harmonic and timbral twists, that make pop songs catchy and compelling. Each of them with their own angle, these two friends explore creative sparks. One wants to capture them, the other one wants to provoke them. Benoit Carré makes songs for French stars like Françoise Hardy, Michel Sardou or Imany, and produces his own. His attraction to machines started in a dream he had as a child that never left him. Seduced by the Flow Machines project, he regularly visits François Pachet and his team. He plays with the technology they have, spends lots of time on it and starts composing a song “in the style of” The Beatles (because The Beatles had everything that make a song so fascinating). This is how ‘Daddy’s Car’ started buzzing on the Web in September 2016. This song was a first attempt, a style performance. While he was exploring the technology, Benoit Carré remembered Andersen’s tale, ‘The Shadow’. Symbols and poetry were gathered in one work matching with his discoveries. This shadow is also embodied by Flow-Machines from which emerges a new musical language. You should pay attention to hear its beauty. ‘Ballad Of The Shadow’ is the first song of SKYGGE a.k.a. Benoit Carré & Flow-Machines. This is a song with a voice as flexible as a reflection in a mirror, it will take various forms through the album. SKYGGE then opened the Flow-Machines studio to other artists. He wanted his experience to be collective and iconoclastic. This is how big artists like Stromae, Kiesza, Kyrie Kristmanson, C.Duncan, Camille Bertault, Mederic Collignon, NZCA Lines, … had the desire and the curiosity to meet with Flow-Machines. They composed, wrote, sang, always keeping their artistic freedom, with the challenge to create amazing songs. SKYGGE has guided them in this experience. He saw them, like he was at first, fascinated, amused and disturbed by the music of Flow-Machines. Ash Workman (Metronomy, Christine and The Queens) produced the album. Flow-Machines is a new way of doing and exploring the creative process, paying more attention to the essence of music using the fantastic power of artificial intelligence. You can follow the project here: Facebook Page 🤍 Twitter 🤍 #HelloWorldAlbum Instagram 🤍 YOUTUBE 🤍 WEBSITE 🤍 The research has been conducted by Sony Computer Science Laboratories Paris(Sony CSL Paris) and Pierre et Marie Curie University (UPMC)

This version of 'Amazing Grace' revisited by SKYGGE with AI is part of his 2019 EP 'American Folk Songs' : 🤍 SKYGGE explains his artistic process with fractal images : "This summer I read a paper from Melissa Avdeeff - Artificial Intelligence & Popular Music: SKYGGE, Flow Machines, and the Audio Uncanny Valley, in which she describes several songs from my previous album "Hello world". 🤍 Melissa extrapolates the concept of Uncanny Valley identified by the robotics professor Masahiro Mori as bukimi no tani genshō. Melissa writes : The audio uncanny valley, I argue, walks the line between unease and excitement by increasing the potential for novelty, while simultaneously challenging assumptions concerning anthropocentric notions of creativity. At this time, I was generating animated images of imaginary landscapes with fractal images to illustrates some songs of my new EP "American Folk Songs". I felt like exploring uncanny valley (in the true sense of the term). During my exploration with fractal images, I though of the travelers who discovered new territories and I imagine them singing around a campfire at night."
