In today's video, I'm sharing with you an ancient Egyptian Spiral Bread recipe. The recipe is inspired by the painting of bread-making scene on the wall of Ramses III's tomb. Rameses III was the 2nd Pharaoh of the 20th Dynasty in the ancient Egypt New Kingdom period (1186-1156BC). I use emmer wheat for this recipe since emmer had been the grain of choice for bread by the New Kingdom. This is my first time making bread with emmer wheat so please join me on this food adventure! Buy Tree Map merch! 🤍 Join the Chatoyancy Crew and get access to special perks! 🤍 Brown Butter Butternut Butternut Cake Recipe: Roast 1 butternut squash in 400 degree oven until fork-tender and puree in food processor (or use one 15 oz can pumpkin puree) Combine puree with any or all of these spices: -1 tsp salt -1.5 tsp cinnamon -1/4 tsp nutmeg -1/4 tsp cardamom -1/4 tsp ginger -1/8 tsp cloves -1/8 tsp allspice -1/8 to 1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper Add 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown butter, 1/4 cup oil, 4 oz cream cheese cut into pieces Mix until combined and let rest for 5 minutes, then whisk vigorously until no cream cheese chunks remain Whisk together 4 large eggs and 1/4 cup of (buttermilk / milk / heavy cream / or water) Add to mixture and mix until encorporated Combine 2 cups all purpose flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda Fold flour mixture into batter until no dry streaks of flour remain Gently fold 1 cup of toasted chopped nuts of your choice Pour into two 8 inch greased loaf pans lined with parchment paper Topping: 5 packed tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, 1 tablespoon softened unsalted butter, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/8 tsp salt Mix with fingers until resembling wet sand and sprinkle on top of batter in pans Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 to 50 min until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean with a few crumbs attached.
